Hello there! My name is
Marc Kenneth, and I am just your average, 20 year old, working class nerd
looking to express himself through blogging... again. Well, this isn't the
first time I did this, but I have decided to blog again because I felt like it.
This time around though, I'll be posting twice every month. "Writing
whenever I feel like it" didn't really go well for me last time, and
because I'm working already, I will have much less time to write blogs. If
there are people who recognize me from my previous blog on my other account:
Hi! Thanks for reading through my randomness, I hope you'll find my new blog as
entertaining (or even more hopefully) than my past blog. Now, I would like
to discuss the name I chose for my blog: MetaJournals. Yes, I invented a new
word just because I feel like it. But let me explain the reasoning behind
it.
The title for my blog is a
combination of two words "Meta" and "Journal". I'll explain
"Meta" first. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary,
"Meta-" is an affix to a word, used mostly to mean "beyond, or
more than" or "change". Other sources define it as
"something of a higher or second-order kind", "change:
transformation" and "more comprehensive: transcending". If
you're talking about the word "Meta", you'll often see in the form of
sarcasm in the chatbox of an online game you're playing (Dota 2 *cough*
"New Meta"). Since the time I first heard about the word in a
literature class when I was in High School, I have become very fond of it. It's
the perfect word to describe everything that goes into my mind whether it be
searching for deeper meanings in everyday occurrences, thinking beyond the
the norm, brainstorming ideas for stories and plots for manga, and deciphering
the meaning of everything (that last one was a tad bit ambitious).
Next up is "Journal". If you're familiar of my previous blog, you'll know that I write my blogs in a form of a journal or diary. I present and talk about the topic, then incorporate personal experiences in them to make them more human. Since High School, journals have become an integral part of my life. Writing on the school diary is mandatory, and but for me it wasn't just a routine or a random schoolwork you do just to get it over with. I had fun writing and those four years of diary writing really rubbed of on me. When I was in college, I wrote some personal entries when I felt like it. I also made checklists (To-Do Lists, Schedules, and other stuff like that), and planners and notes for the day. Aside from that, recently, I've watched a cartoon called "Gravity Falls". It's a really interesting cartoon about two twins, Dipper and Mabel Pines, who stayed will stay with their Uncle for the summer in Gravity Falls, a remote place in Oregon, US. One day, Dipper found a journal hidden in the woods, and soon after, he and his twin Mabel encounter supernatural phenomenon all around Gravity Falls and uses the information cataloged in the journal to find a way to deal with them. Because of the wildly entertaining Gravity Falls, my fondness for journals have grown into an obsession.
Put those words together
then *BLAM* the word MetaJournals was coined. Well, not
really. As I've searched for the word itself in google, there are results that
say the word is already being used. Oh well, the only important thing is that
I'm the only one in the blogging community using this word. Other than these
two words being my all-time favorites, these two words together also means
something. If you put the definitions of these words together, you get
"beyond journals" or "more than just a journal". For me,
this means that I treat my blog entries as journal entries, but it won't be
like the normal journal entries you write or read. It's not going to be all
about the stuffy narrations about what happened, it's going to focus on what's
beyond. I'm going to ask all the important questions, and try to answer it
myself. What others take for granted, what seems like nonsense for other
people, I will try to put some sense and meaning into them. In a sense, this
isn't your normal journal. It's written online, where everyone can see. With
that, I can express my perspectives on certain things in life and hopefully
become a positive influence to other people. It's more than just a journal
really, and that's what my metajournals are about.
There you have it. Hopefully you'll like my new blog and find the stuff
I write interesting! Forgive me if you notice any grammar lapses of any kind in
my blog posts because I'm not a perfect person. I proofread the things I post
but sometimes there are some minor hiccups in grammar and sentence construction
that remain. As my form of expression, I write blog articles in free form, just
writing everything that pops into my mind and then check if I messed something
up later on. I have this bad habit of just publishing a blog entry without even
proofreading it at all, so for the Grammar Nazis out there, cut me some slack.
Well, I guess that's it. I'm looking forward to writing some really interesting
blog entries for next month. Hopefully you'll like them!
