Journal Entry #4.2 - Thank Goodness for Neurogenesis

As a night person who rarely gets sleep and experiences a whole lot of sleep deprivation, not to mention the stress I go through, it's pretty much a given that I killed a whole lot of my brain cells, aka neurons. Back at elementary, the science textbooks say that once a neuron dies, that's it, it won't ever regenerate. As a person who values intelligence, I shudder at the thought of becoming less and less intelligent as I lose more sleep. But apparently, the brain can actually repair itself and form new neurons in a process called Neurogenesis. Thanks to that, I still have hope of regaining my lost grey matter.
